Encounters Film Festival 2011 will host the first event from the newly formed Animation Alliance UK. The panel, Animation Alliance: what do we want?, is a free industry event hosted as part of Animated Encounters.

The panel includes: Joan Ashworth, Head of Animation at Royal College of Art; Sara Barbas, Bristol based animator and director; Sarah Cox, Creative Director & CEO; ArthurCox, and Gary Thomas, Director of Animate Projects.

Animation Alliance UK exists to act as a network to advocate for independent animation in the UK. In September the Alliance wrote to the Government’s Film Review Panel, raising concerns about the lack of public policy, strategy and support for independent animation, and this panel session is an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing independent animation, the changing landscape, and what needs to be done.
